A Word to Graduates

A Word to Graduates from Bro D,

To the 32 of you High School and College Graduates, I say well done!  I love you more than you will ever know.  We have journeyed together many miles physically more importantly spiritually.  Remember there is nothing more important that I and your parents and leaders have tried to instill in you than-“Christ First”.  He is your life.

C-Commit yourself to being a follower of Christ.  “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul and with all your mind.” (Matthew 22:37-38)  The essence of Christianity is not that you prayed a prayer or got baptized or that you went to church.  It is –you are a Christ follower.

H-Honor Christ in your life.  “Whoever claims to live in Christ must walk as Jesus did.” (1 John 2:6)  Live out who you say you are.

R-Read the instructions.  “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” “This has been my practice, I have obeyed your word.” (Psalm 119:105, 56)  Be a lifelong student of God’s Word.

I-Integrity must define you.  “A truthful witness gives honest answers, but a false witness tells lies.” (Proverbs 12:17)  Live your life in such a way that when people hear your name they say, “I can trust their word to the truth.”

S-Serve humbly.  “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many.” (Mark 10:45)  As you live, do what nobody else is willing to do in the name of Jesus.  There is nobody in this world so low that you can’t get lower than them and serve them.

T-Take Christ to your world.  “Therefore, go into all the world and make disciples of all the nations…” (Matthew 28:19-20)  The overall purpose in your life as a Christ follower is to know God and to make Him known.  If you have a pulse then you are a missionary to the nations.  May your calendar and your wallet reveal that.

Fly well my friends and enjoy the journey!  I love you, Bro D (Matthew 6:33)
